About The Artwork
This is a very special portrait of my friend Rachel. She is a wonderful nanny who watched my children. Rachel builds and rides motorcycles. She is madly in love with her BMW. In this piece I captured the duality of her nature... her tender feminine side (she wore her favorite dress...) and her ride-or-die side (she does ride scary.) The horses on the background appeared kind of on their own. When I took the reference photos for this paining there was a horse-shaped shadow on the wall that I decided to keep. Only when I played with the contrast and exposure of the photo did I discover that it actually was a bouquet of flowers casting a horse shaped shadow... fun fact
