ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is inspired by the transformation tales involving swans that occur in our storytelling culture. My particular favourite as a child that my mother used to read to me was 'Elise and the Seven Swans', which I have painted around the edge. The Irish tale of the 'Children of Lir' also holds similar transformative elements. These elements can be found in tales across the world. It is a process important to our cultural history and present story. The titles are painted in gold around the sides of the canvas.
