George Micalef... originating from Malta, is a young artist born in Corfu, Greece. Micalef works predominantly in the medium of painting but his intensive creativity has eventually led him to practice art in several forms. Ever since he was a little boy, he's been messing around with pencils and markers, creating artworks infused with his love, passion and infinite imagination. The last few years, he has devoted himself to painting. His pieces of art in the early years contained strange and macabre images; usually behind them are lying stories of lost childhood and true love. His recent work now reflects the newfound peace and dreams that accompany the start of his new life. His painting is a mix of traditional Greek folk art, surrealism and Naïve Art, with clear influences from the iconography of the Orthodox Church and folk painter Theofilos. He has had several solo shows in Greece and participated in numerous group exhibitions. He is represented in the collection of the Corfu Art Gallery and since 2010 he's been a member of the Artist Association of Corfu. Micalef’s work can be found in many private art collections in Greece and abroad. He currently lives and works in Athens, Spetses and Corfu, Greece.
