ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The piece takes inspiration from the artists feelings of drowning in a room full of oxygen. The overwhelming sense of pressure and fear of failure crushing the hopes and dreams they are desperately trying to reach out and grab but always being weighed down by the heavy blanket of hopelessness. The viewers eye will be drawn to the textured centre that seemingly is hiding the true painting behind it, the true potential of painting is always just out of view for them, blocked by this harsh layer. The paper was chosen to represent the fragile mind, the acyrlic paint in erratic brush strokes to show the passion and dreams. the watered down paint to create a blanket topped with salt to absorb the hopes and weigh them down becoming fused to create a unmovable barrier.

Rybeth art is a very private British artist based in Northamptonshire UK. They received their BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Northampton University . Through a range of mediums - such as spray paint, painting, the removal of paint and video, Rybeth creates extremely emotive pieces that explores not only the artists experience but the human experience of the struggles a individual faces regarding mental health, sorrow, abuse, stalking, ableism and classism. - Diving into the lasting effect it can have on the mind. Her pieces are structured yet chaotic in nature, often created on discarded off cuts, mostly imperfect or awkward sizes - this is done deliberately to the represent the arduous task to stay afloat while also representing that though it maybe imperfect and clouded with fear, beauty can shine through. Rybeth has previously had work displayed in multiple exhibitions: - YESTERDAY at Avenue gallery with the piece "migraine gene" - FEARLESS at Avenue gallery with the piece "aura" - FREERANGE at Truman brewery gallery London, with the piece "aura" - SKIN HUNGER at the Attenborough art centre gallery with the piece "Blue, Orange, Mother, Go"
