About The Artwork

Icon of the cinema, muse of Givenchy - a high fashion friendship - Audrey Hepburn is a legendary British actress with doe eyes. She marked her era by embodying a chic and sophisticated style. First revealed to the world in "Roman Holiday" in 1953, which won her the Oscar for Best Actress, Audrey Hepburn played her most iconic character in "Diamonds on a Couch" in 1961. She is one of the myths of Hollywood cinema. During the last years of her life, Audrey Hepburn dedicated herself to her role as an ambassador for UNICEF, using her celebrity to help children around the world. Her humanitarian commitment and charity work made her a respected woman. Actress as talented as committed, she is also admired for her elegance. Indeed, her fine face, her haughty bearing and her slender silhouette have made her the model of natural beauty: "Elegance is the only beauty that never fades, she said". My painting draws its inspiration from the famous movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Diamonds on a Couch (original title: Breakfast at Tiffany's) is an American film directed by Blake Edwards, released in 1961. The role of the naive and whimsical Holly Golightly (whose black sheath dress worn by the actress in the opening sequence has become mythical) is considered one of the most memorable of Audrey Hepburn. The song she performs in the film, Moon River, earned composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer the Oscar for best film score. This painting is a mixed media artwork. I use a technique of collage and marouflage. I collect images, posters, magazines, I tear, I coat, I glue and I scratch! I revisit the icons of American and French cinema, Pop-Rock stars, Comics...mythical characters who are part of our culture and our collective unconscious. Original and unique handmade painting. Collages, painting and varnish finish. The sides of the work are painted. Artwork signed by hand.

ORIGINALITY- STYLE- INFLUENCES- COMPOSITION My work is part of the neo pop trend. My artistic influences, essentially pop art and Warhol, street art and Jean michel Basquiat, as well as poster artists like Villeglé, the new realists of the of the 60s. I create assemblies combining photography, painting, collages and inlaying of different materials. Popular themes such as nostalgia and celebrity culture, icons (Marilyn), the woman, object of consumption, representation of the fantasies of a society of the spec- tacle society. References to the cinematographic culture - the emblematic figures of the 7th art Comic book heroes, familiar themes, echoes of our childhood memories. Urban inspirations, city architectures, the luxury of department stores, advertisements logos, illustrating our cultural differences, globalization. I work by series, precise themes, and I put forward a whole dynamism of colors, and my creations are driven by the joy of living. Dynamic compositions and colors and "supercharged" colors. My collages reflect the process of my mind, consisting of discovering, cutting. I play with images, colors and words (visual and verbal). Bringing to life the story of a person, famous or not (main focus), hidden behind the behind the imagery that surrounds it, like a kind of patchwork, an imagined biography. Inspired by Rauschenberg's work, I integrate ordinary found objects and as- seem -cans, corks, fabrics, cardboard, vinyls....... a way to denounce the over consumption. Influenced by cubism -Picasso, Braque- with the introduction of materials, elements integrated in the composition of the painting and Dadaism (display of propaganda). DIVERSITY OF TECHNIQUES -MATERIALS AND SUPPORTS Collages of torn papers, mottled papers, glossy images of magazines, selected and accumulated according to a specific theme, and glued according to a specific technique. and accumulated according to a very precise theme, and glued according to a very specific technique. Working method with scissors, brushes, palette knives, cutters, glues and by adapting his gesture - crumpled, cut or torn paper - Aging of the paper, transfer of the images on the support.
