This series of pictures, which I began in 2020 in times of the Corona Pandemic, continues to this day and still occupies me. This is a series of pictures taken during the time of the . Over many years I have repeatedly taken photos of classical sculptures: In museums, in gothic churches, in castles and on public public squares. What fascinates me about them is the timelessness with which these faces look at us. Dressed in different clothes, these people could meet us in the marketplace at any moment. They are individuals like us - only they lived 400 or 600 years ago. Did they experience a plague epidemic or lived a quiet life in a small medieval town? town? In 2020 - during the first shutdown, I pulled the photos out of my from my photo library, looked at these faces, and started a portrait series to understand what we have in common. Meanwhile, my motifs are also people from the present: family members, friends and also photos of contemporary witnesses, which I use as a template. Whenever a face fascinates me, I archive the photo and store it in my graphic cabinet. Until I get it out again and make a painting out of it.
