ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The idea stating matter being composed of atoms dates back to the 6th or 5th century BC. It seems that the Indians (6th century BC) followed by the Greeks (5th century BC, Democritus taking up the words of Leucippus) are the first to have introduced this idea. The Greek philosopher Epicurus, taking up the idea of nature as being composed of bodies (atoms) and void introduces the concept of Clinamen. He defines it as being a random deflection of atoms falling into the void. By successive shocks, this original variation would generate the world as we know it... -------------- A satin varnish has been applied to the painting giving it a brilliant finish as you can see on the pictures.

Lancelot Blondeel is a contemporary painter born in 1988, currently living and working in Vincennes (France). Drawing on his background in engineering, the artist explores in his abstract creations the relationship between humans and the experience of reality. His work is primarily distinguished by two main series: the "No Reason" series, featuring vibrant colors and spontaneous, hand-drawn gestures, and the "Interlaced Landscapes" series, consisting of abstract landscapes composed of horizontal or vertical bands. The artist works with raw materials such as cotton canvas, wood, pigments, and varnishes. His method is characterized by the use of handmade tools. Each new painting series follows a process of development akin to the scientific method, involving the creation of a specific technique. Rejecting being confined to any particular style or formalism, the artist's research encompasses both gestural and geometric abstraction. Lancelot Blondeel is interested in texture, using layering and impasto techniques to create a tactile surface effect. The use of curved lines with varying thicknesses contributes to a sense of movement. .blondeel Solo Show 2024 | Rue de Verneuil | Paris, France 2023 | Aux Tables | Paris, France Collective Shows 2024 | Private exhibition organized by the Galerie 12 | Paris, France - Galerie 12, rue des Beaux-Arts | Paris, France - Salon d'automne (120th edition) | Paris, France 2023 | Salon des Artistes du Val-de-Marne (137th edition) - Villa Médicis | Saint-Maur, France - Galerie Francis Barlier | Paris 8th, France 2022 | "True Form" - Virtual Artists | London, United Kingdom © Adagp
