ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The setting is East 9th Street and 1st Avenue in the East Village. A building is painted with a mural of a city on the edge of a body of water. (Actually, the mural extends to both sides.) It is a beautiful spring afternoon, and looking uptown, the clouds in the sky seem to match the clouds on the building, especially the way it is lit. In the painting, the clouds look like they’re escaping from the building and into the sky.
