Smitha Dudaga is an Australian artist, who was born in India. She developed her passion for art from an early age and has been fascinated by how the world is presented through the eyes of different artists. She practised art as a hobby through drawings on paper right until she finished her Masters in Computer Applications. It is after moving to Australia in 2006 that she started working with oils and acrylics on stretched canvas. She is drawn to how different colours laid together form beautiful landscapes, portraits etc. She feels that the rich tones oils and acrylics provide her paintings a strong physical presence. She is in love with art so much that she feels that she is reborn with completion of every single painting. She challenges herself by experimenting different techniques to achieve desired results. This is evident in her paintings. Award(s): Winner under Oil or Acrylic category of ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show 2012 Art competition for artwork ‘In the bust of mother Ngunnawal’. A few words from Smitha about this artwork: I am always smitten by the way land looks so different from an ariel view. This curiosity is the inspiration for this artwork. This artwork is a depiction of a cluster of islands in the middle of ocean. This painting: - is made using acrylics on stretched canvas, - is of size 16 X 20 X 0.55 inches, - is ready to hang, - has 2 layers of top quality protective coating, and - is an original (single copy).
