ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was inspired by my daughter to try illustrative style of water colour and pen. The cockerel is a fine animal . When I was a teenager I made a batik cockerel which i enjoyed making , so this character was very appealing. I also visited Reunion Island and took a photo of chickens for sale that showed lovely sunlight and shade . So I brought in the feeling of the dappled sunlight with the yellow shapes and leaves It was fun drawing out all of the feathers in balck pen first and then adding the colour . the watercolour provides the softness for the feathers .
