My work explores ideas of place through rural and urban landscapes, as well as interior spaces, shaped by travels across the United States, Canada, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, and closer to home in the UK and Europe. These varied environments inform my visual language and sensitivity to atmosphere. I am particularly interested in structure, perspective, light, and shape—using them not simply to describe a scene, but to interpret it. Strong linear elements and considered spatial depth guide the viewer’s eye, while light and colour establish mood and presence. Rather than creating literal representations, my paintings seek to evoke the feeling of inhabiting a specific moment and space. Influenced by artists such as Edward Hopper, Richard Diebenkorn, and Ben Aronson, I am drawn to painting’s expressive capacity—its ability to convey atmosphere and emotion beyond the limits of language.
