About The Artwork

One of a kind acrylic henna flower painting on canvas - Colorful, vibrant meditative floral art with 3D texture, created free-hand. Inspired by Indian colors and patterns. This painting is an abstract Columbine flower. My paintings are created freehand through an intuitive process by piping the acrylic paint on canvas. I used a cake icing tip to pipe acrylic florets in the center. Painting is very iridescent & has a lot of metallic colors and the view will change as the light changes. Great for home decor and interior design. Original Painting by Artist Bala Thiagarajan.

Born and brought up in Chennai, India, I have a passion for colors and patterns that are inspired by the Indian culture. I love to explore texture in different mediums and my color palette reflects the colors of silk and cotton saris worn by women in South India. I create free-hand textured paintings by piping acrylic paints in the style of henna body art on canvas in an attempt to capture the temporary nature of this art onto more enduring surfaces. I paint intuitively, focusing on my breathing & the symmetry of the paintings comes from a meditative practice of organic repetition. I have been combining my biology background and my love for math - fractals and geometry - in the works I create and the finished paintings are full of rhythm and color.
