'Composition I' Print

For my art practice I researched the works of Hilma af Klint and Carmen Herrara as a great influence on this finished piece. Many female artists are recognised later in life and this work explores the benefits as well as negative aspects of invisibility of women in middle age. To be invisible is to be able to express oneself fully without the public gaze and scrutiny of the outside world. I hope the essence of the painting as an exploration of the self with uplift the viewer to a positive future. Similar to, paintings that represent good feng shui. The painting is painted on un-stretched canvas as this allows for easy transport throughout the world. I used both acrylic and tempera paints to represent a traditional approach to materials.
