Original minimalistic abstract acrylic painting titled Constructions no.6 Size: 39.37" W x 47.24" H x 0.78" (100 W x 120 H x 2 cm) Series: Constructions 2017 This painting is part of black-and-white minimalist series based on lines, directions, and divisions, inspired by urban space, dynamics, and temporariness. It is a record of the struggle with the conventionality of three-dimensional space on the two-dimensional canvas surface. It attempts to capture the fourth dimension: time with the help of composition and suggestion of movement. Inspirations: The series is inspired by urban space, the dynamics, and the temporariness of its decorations. Colors: All paintings are kept in white and black with a small addition of dark brown, navy blue, mica, and metallic shades (silver, steel, gold), which — along with heavy texture — underline dynamic, powerful strokes and forms. Technique: The series is painted on cotton+linen canvas; colors are mixed with glossy and matte mediums, metallic paints, sand, structural paste, and mica—the appearance changes with movement and light. Each painting has several layers of paint, sand and structural pastes superimposed on each other. Painting is signed on the back, varnished, has painted edges; no frame required. Ready to hang! Painted by Sylwia Zolkiewska (certificate of authenticity attached).

Painter & New Media Artist based in Warsaw, Poland. Laureate of 2nd Triennial of Polish Contemporary Painting AUTUMN CONFRONTATIONS (2010). Hello! My name is Sylwia Zolkiewska. I am a visual artist, working across various mediums, mainly painting and digital media (graphics, NFTs) I received an MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland in 2007, and studied Media Arts at Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland for a while. Since then, I have mainly painted, creating digital graphics and multimedia. In art I enjoy crossing the boundaries of disciplines, experimenting with new technologies, and constantly searching for new means of expression. THEMES AND INSPIRATIONS My artworks often explore human interaction with the digital world and digitality itself in an abstract way. They concern the passage of time, memories, emotions, identity, and a state of constant change in a tech-centric world. CREATIVE PROCESS My creation process is based on my inner thoughts, reflection, and emotions and on quantitative & qualitative research I conduct on a digital image. These findings are a constant source of inspiration for me, providing me ideas both about form & shape and topics for my artworks. HOW DO MY PAINTINGS LOOK? I also love experimenting with painting, creating movement and depth within 2d creation. So I use colors mixed with glossy or matte mediums, sand, and mica & often generate a lot of layers. Applying different textures makes my artworks more 3-dimensional, relief-like, unique, and more haptic and multi-sensual, changing with movement and light. My color palette is limited but refined, which allows the viewer to focus more on composition and textures. My paintings and multimedia have been presented at many exhibitions throughout the country and abroad. I am a laureate of the 2nd Triennale of Polish Contemporary Painting ‚Autumn Confrontations’ under the patronage of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
