Albert Karoyan was born in 1954 in Yerevan. In 1982 he graduated from the Armenian Construction Institute with architect qualification. His career path was multi-faceted full of architecture, paintings, and graphics works. In 1982 – 1983 he worked as an architect at Yerevan Project University of Construction. Later in 1987, Albert Karoyan was the head of the group, engaged in the renovation of exterior design and improvement in the Main Architectural Department of Yerevan City Hall. In 1992 the artist decided to continue his artistic development in Greece, where he cooperates with leading architectural and art workshops of Athens. In 2003 – 2008 Karoyan was the Chief Architect and Designer in Vagharsh and Sons LLC, and since 2008 has been the Chief Architect at Soglasiye Armenia LLC. Nowadays under the project of Albert Karoyan and personally under his supervision, a 4-star hotel Lyon is being built in Yerevan. Since the late 1990s, the artist has participated in national exhibitions not only as an architect but also as an artist. Even with a quick glance at Karoyan’s paintings and graphics we can see the influence of the medieval Armenian national miniature art school on his artworks. The genre of graphics widely represented in his career, it inherent for the architect-artist. His graphic artworks are full of the smallest details which create almost unrealistic plausibility. Artworks by Albert Karoyan are represented in museums and private collections in Armenia, Russia, Europe, and USA, his paintings and sculptures decorate several churches in Armenia.
