Colleen Zacharias Gregoire now works from her studio in Placitas, New Mexico, following 4 decades of painting in the midwest plains of Kansas. Her oil and watercolor paintings are inspired by a spiritual sense of 'home', a search for quiet respite and reflection, defined by the house we live in or the land around us. Influenced by artists such as Bonnard, Manet and Hopper, her “snapshots” of architectural details and porch settings convey the changing effects of light from season to season, while suggesting a personal narrative. Colleen applies a similar focus on the local landscape, drawn to the subtle and not so subtle colors of autumn that highlight the details of nature. website: Collections: Baker University Art Collection, Baldwin City, KS Hartman Oil Collection, Wichita, KS James Rush American Art Collection, Sioux City, IA Jones Co., Overland Park, KS Mulvane Arts Center Permanent Collection, Washburn University, Topeka, KS Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS RCB Bank, Claremore, OK RPG (Restaurant, Pub and Games) Lawrence, KS Spencer Museum of Art Docent Collection, The University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS Sprint Corporation, Overland Park, KS University Women’s Club, The University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS Private Collections throughout the United States and Europe Past Galleries: Art Resources Gallery, Edina, MN Beauchamp Gallery, Topeka, KS Eva Reynolds Gallery, Lawrence, KS Fields Gallery, Lawrence, KS Roy's Gallery, Lawrence, KS Strecker-Nelson-West Gallery, Manhattan, KS Present Galleries:
