Born in 1959 in the Paris region, Catherine has been painting for more than fifteen years. She is an active member of the collectif of female artists : l’Atelier de Création in Toulon, on the French Riviera. Her work revolts around the creation of tools and shapes that give life to each one of her paintings. She is inspired by the colors discovered while traveling in Bali, Mexico and Cuba. Playing with geometric compositions and superposition, Catherine proposes a sensual experience and raw creations. Each artwork tells the story of a marking experience, this results in a powerful and contrasted painting. At the beginning of her carrer she focused in the notion of the body and its figure. Isn’t the human body the first shape we could think about ? The notion of art therapy is at the center of the her work. Coming back from a trip in Asia, she started the exploration and use of spray painting techniques. She creates stencil with natural materials and uses the codes of street art mixed up with modernist painting of the beginning of the century. Her work is alive. After her Mexican era, tainted with Mayan mysticism, her work becomes more ethereal. In late 2018 she curves to surrealism with her « initiating trips » featuring her favorite theme : spirituality, cosmology and the essence of the shape. At the present moment, Catherine is working on portraying the experiences and landscapes she lived on her last trip to Cuba.
