The paintings of Feyerabend show this parallel world of imagined landscape and diverging nature that favours a free use of color, shape and form. Intuitive in his use of color, these paintings show a chain reaction from the adaptive unconscious through to realized conscious decisions. This freedom for initial creation allows Feyerabend to playfully develop but steadily define his visual environments. These Ancient or Modern places are fiction and fantasy, set off in semi-cubist elements, by fragmented forms, facets of color and shape. Some parts are familiar, others invented. Yet throughout the paintings the colors of nature have been transmuted into new harmonies and alternative combinations. “I try to communicate these feelings, inspired by the color and their interaction. Using the subconscious as a point of beginning, I let the paintings formulate out. This creates a distance for them to develop into. ” This intuitive approach gives the paintings a direct and uncomplicated aim in picture making where the soul has been allowed in. It is this soul which gives the paintings their quiet emotional dimension and projects an alternative setting, primed in the potent forces of nature. David Tidball, UK
