About The Artwork

Fluidity and the motion of liquid inspired me to pour acrylic paints to form spirits of birds and animals. The free flow of paints means the paints and nature is in control while the artist pours. I want viewers to know that there are movements in paints and it is expressed through fluid figurative. Feel the paints flow. Feel them form shapes.

Sarah Soh is a Malaysian artist based in South Korea. She is one of the few fluid figurative artist, using acrylic pour as her medium of expression. Her works does not consist of any brush works nor touch ups. Sarah's fluid art style is special because she creates details of animals and birds by pouring the paints and manipulating them to form shapes and details. She does not use a brush to paint any details out. The fluid nature of paint flow means that there is a part that she can control and a part she cannot, allowing her work to be free of form yet formed. Chaos and order both go hand-in-hand. Her deepest desire is for people to recognize her art and reflect both chaos and order in their lives as well as enjoying the flow and integration of the paints. Sarah created her own pour techniques: detail pour and stitch pour. Detail pour is pouring colors in a way that manipulates them into details. It requires planning and precise execution with no touch-ups or add-on detail using brush strokes. Stitch pour allows her to extend the period of pouring to a few days due to the large surface for detail pour. Sarah’s pour signature is to not touch up the works after a pour. So all the details are done without a brush and while the painting is still wet.
