The ultimate cliche, "I saw it in a dream," but that's how this painting started. I saw a lush forest in spring, with just-born fawns sleeping peacefully in puddle of spots and tawny fur, soft, downy ears and delicate, tangled up legs. I realize that's a lot of adjectives to describe something you don't even see in the painting. I'm an abstract artist, so this painting is a representation of how that vision made me feel. It's soft and dare I say "dreamy." The colors of spring melt down like soft rain. It's dewy and bright and hopeful. I wanted to convey the feeling of hushed awe one feels when one comes upon something that's normally secret and unseen. A fleeting peek into the miraculous.
