ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is based on a water colour painting I made from a wooden sculpture from Guatemala. The image of the rabbit is taken from that painting, enlarged and printed on canvas. I cut it out and applied it onto an painted canvas. I also cut out and glued on patterned fabrics that helped express the crazy feeling of being trapped in a cage. I made this work at the Banff Centre for Creativity, Banff, Alberta, Canada while attending an independent residency. I don't necessarily choose the medium, subject matter or style. I start with one thing (ex. rabbit) and the artwork just grows from that thing.
