Neither background nor foreground: the elements of my compositions — abstract shapes that sometimes echo floral or organic forms — exist in relation to one another. They float, they connect; nothing is isolated. Every gesture carries equal weight. Controlled marks and random impulses meet on the same plane, revealing traces of confrontation between the conscious and the unconscious. When I begin a painting, I never know what will emerge. My process is one of acting, reacting, and reacting to reaction — spontaneous declarations, visual snapshots of the moment. I seek to evoke a kind of visual poetry, inviting the viewer into my world: a world without a fixed center, sometimes light as a feather, sometimes heavy as lead. A world animated by its own language of color, rough and confrontational at times, yet also delicate, tender, almost caressing.
