Tutored by the highly acclaimed Stewart Geddes and Stass Paraskos. My atmospheric abstractions portray experiences in places (landscapes and interiors) in an aesthetic way.
Experiences in Cyprus, Rome, Scottish Highlands, Wales, Worthing Coast (where I live) and my home interior have provided fantastic inspiration. Urban and natural places both entice me. I'm visually captivated by nature, urban/ natural colours, ruins, architecture, historical art/ artefacts, graffiti and weathered walls in places. A place's history, weather, atmosphere and my emotions also influence my work.
That inspiration from a place, determines specific colours, visual effects, moods, shapes and textures, which I improvise with and enjoy for their own sake. I love paint- layering, exploring textures, excavating, collaging and incising it in my relic/organic-like acrylic works, on thick archival papers. It's a fascinating adventure seeing my paintings evolve an independent life/ history of their own, yet still evoking a sense of place.
