This open space surrealistic piece alludes to the theme of natural selection and evolution which in this case refers to ‘Darwin’s Theory’, as the title suggests. There is some motion and a sort of cycle portrayed throughout the almost still image trying to encapsulate the theory. Relatively starting from almost nothing and a seemingly lifeless water, which is the basis of life here. Suggestive of the invisible microscopic reaction to the fish, to the trees and the birds, from the water onto land and the skies. This is accentuated from the figurative trees surreptitiously alluring to the fish connection. Apart from pertaining to the fish like trees, at a closer look, one would be able to see many other fish under the ripples., also sustaining part of life, even above it. So therefore, the term of ‘survival of the fittest’ is also depicted, which is also part of the cycle and is mentioned in Darwin’s theory. This piece is painted on a chunky/thick mounted stretched canvas and does not necessarily need to be framed as it is painted in raw sienna right around the sides (photos to follow soon). Being frame less would give it a more contemporary look, but a thick frame would suit it just as much. Thank you for your interest. Zeal.

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.
