ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Dance" was painted to celebrate my return to life after a battle with cancer. It expresses my joy, hope, and ambition in a new, happy life. I painted it while dancing to 2 Cellos' performance, "They don't care about us." I was painting with two knives and playing on the canvas as if I was playing percussion with the band 2 Cellos. *Original acrylic painting, signed and dated on the back side.

I am Hayet Salam, a self-taught abstract painter, born and living in Tunisia but I feel myself like a butterfly spreading happiness, joy, and hope to the whole universe. I realize now that I am here for a mission: my name is Hayet (meaning "life") Salam (meaning "peace"). The meaning of my name is my aim . I became reborn on the day I had only one solution to continue to live after a long fight with cancer. In June, 2019, I suddenly decided to start painting while dancing to music in order to forget all of my pain and create a new happy life! In my art, I tell my real story and give to the world a piece of me. My paintings are musical notes translated to colors. When I paint I am dancing like a butterfly and trying to make everyone smile when they see me. Since I began painting , I have produced more than 200 paintings.
