ABOUT THE ARTWORK

For most of my life, I have contemplated its irregularities feeling that it walked by its slopes and precipices. I woke up, and the first image my eyes saw was the great mountain of the Illimani in my country Bolivia. After many years of absence from my land, his image returns to my memory. In the artistic process, the natural model has become a studio model; I have built images of the mountain using fabrics and put the Moon as an eternal sentinel. The idea I remember is that the snowy Illimani differs from the one on the internet. Global warming is destroying the "eternal snows" in the Andes, and Illimani does not escape this deterioration; my work becomes a metaphor and a claim to conserving the environment.

Born in La Paz Bolivia. My work has constantly focused on interpreting nature, the continuous cycle of life and death, creation, the wonder of the universe, and lately, my disappointment caused by the destruction that our planet is suffering. Nature has been a recurring theme in my work for many years. I have included bottles and glass containers in the series of paintings I am currently working on because of their fragility and beauty. In this way, fragile glass containers acquire two meanings: the vessel floats in infinite space as our planet in the universe, and the second, they become tiny universes, wombs harboring life, seeds, fish, eggs, or plants. The fragility of our planet is reflected in the infinity and the fragility of the life that develops in it, and I call for its preservation and conservation. These vessels float in space, sometimes on ephemeral elements like dried fabrics or sheets. My palette of colors is varied; I work with high-contrast colors inspired by the beauty of nature and also to create more expressive force.
