Mr. Leopoldo Maragno was born in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, on December 29 th 1965. He was educated in a family of musicians and philosophers. His father, an outstanding composer, pianist and orchestra conductor; and his mother, a professor of Philosophy and Pedagogy cultivated, from his early childhood, his sensitivity towards the arts and music. At a very young age his parents discovered his special gift for drawing and painting. His multiple talents, though, made him consider, together with the arts, to go in for the school of electronic engineering. Finally, owning an experience enriched by his multiple facets he concentrated on painting, an area where he finds his best way of expression. As soon as he learns how to read and write he becomes a fan of children comics and, at the age of ten, he creates his own cartoons. At the same time some natural talents as an inventor come up and he develops his love for philately and chess. At an early age, after receiving a microscope as a gift, he discovers the infinite range of forms and colors existing in the substances he would check through the microscope lens. He would then outstandingly resemble them in his artistic compositions. The mystery which the human face exerts on him has taken him to accomplish the art of portrait painting. His great admiration towards the genius Leonardo serves him as a stimulus for his own creations. His love and admiration for nature as well makes him dedicate to hyperrealism allowing him to produce a series of pictures about animals.
