ABOUT THE ARTWORK

You get up in the morning and find that everything seems renewed, as if the night brought torrential rains and simply swept everything away. Your emotions are in a raw unsure stage. One side of you is thankful for the new beginning but there is another side of you that is overwhelmed by the power of the nature. Original art, acrylic on canvas, comes packed in a roll

I am an independent artist working with medium sized art, using acrylic on canvas. I am based in India. Before setting out as an independent artist, I spent several years working in various areas of fashion and textiles. Textiles and fashion have been my teachers and all I learnt about art and design is intensely colored by my years spent in textile and fashion industry. The desire to express myself through art has made me ‘jump the proverbial fence’ and enter the arena of acrylic painting. I believe, ‘Design is a communication but painting is truly self expression’. Acrylic painting is a versatile, vibrant, affordable and flexible medium which allows the artist in me to express myself without any fetters and limitations. I have a strong commitment to ‘loving mother earth’ and hence I have upcycled old wooden doors and boards and creatively reused them as easels. I enjoy experimenting and reusing day to day objects as artist tools. The vibrant colors and style of my work reflects the vibrant landscape of my surroundings. The vitality and luxurious hues of Indian textiles constantly inspire me and reflect in my color palettes. I am influenced by Madhubani and Warli styles of painting and Indian masters like Jamini Roy and S. H. Raza. I love Vincent Van Gogh’s masterful energetic strokes. His mastery motivates me to constantly innovate and improve my technique.
