With each distillation of a leaf into a simple abstraction, Marianne attempts to make sense of the world by categorically manipulating geometry and form. Her oil paintings possess a rhythmic quality, created by the repetition of pattern and texture, and seek out balance between realism and highly stylized expression. Marianne returned to the Netherlands after graduating with a BA in Architecture & Spatial Design with Honours at Central St. Martins, London, England. Her works have been exhibited in Amsterdam, New York, London, and Italy, including The Other Art Fair London and Brooklyn. Marianne's paintings have been featured in various publications, including Vogue Living NL, and her work was selected for special projects with Sheraton and Eden Roc Hotel. - Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and Vice President of Art Advisory at Saatchi Art. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SUBJECT Marianne Hendriks’s subject is nature, its design and construction. Marianne simplifies plants and leaves by deconstructing and redesigning their forms in order to balance structure and symmetry, and in doing this she creates optically hypnotic and beautiful effects. Her imagination is strongly influenced by her background in architecture and art history. The collection consists of portraits of plants and leaves which capture a mood and moment. The work is exploratory and experimental and driven by playfulness and curiosity. Trial and error is a fundamental part of the work, which creates both tension and balance in the image. APPROACH Marianne Hendriks aspires to achieve the highest quality and preservation of her pieces. She continues to study art history including traditional methods, equipment and pigments; and to educate herself in the old Dutch Masters’ techniques, including replicating masterpieces to better understand how they were created. She has a wide range of accomplishments and experiences in technical drawing, graphic design and art direction, production and management. CRAFTSMANSHIP Marianne Hendriks’s work is all designed and crafted in her own studio and wood workshop. She is involved in designing and building panels, canvasses, bespoke art tools, frames for the paintings, shipping crates, and in building storage and also presentation furniture. By maintaining control over all aspects of production, she ensures that each piece is of the highest possible quality. INFLUENCES Marianne Hendriks’s work is influenced by her travels in Asia, the movement of Japonism and the philosophy of Wabi Sabi. She has also been influenced by her studies and experience in architecture and design. Artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and Van Gogh are a great inspiration to the Botanicus Collection. Marianne grew up in Amsterdam and incorporates the painting techniques of 17th Century Dutch Masters in her work, producing work which - although very modern - has deep roots in art history. ACHIEVEMENTS Marianne Hendriks exhibits worldwide including in New York, London, Amsterdam, Portugal and Italy. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Vogue Living NL and Egoista Magazine, amongst others. Her work is part of several important collections including the Soho House collection. EDUCATION Marianne Hendriks graduated from St.Martins Foundation in Art & Design and a BA in Architecture and Spatial Design London. St. Martins is known for its work ethic, interdisciplinary approach and conceptual thinking in multidisciplinary studies, and technical exploration; this has heavily influenced Marianne's approach. Since graduating she has worked in diverse functions in the creative industries, whilst developing her own artistic vision and voice. She is presently studying at Atelier Wildschut in Amsterdam where she continues to further her expertise in the techniques of the Dutch Masters, as well as in the techniques of Tromp L’oeil and Faux Art. REPRESENTATIVES Marianne Hendriks is currently represented by over fifty art directors, consultants and gallerists worldwide. Her main representatives are Saatchi Art, The Amar Gallery and The Other Art Fair. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Netherlands - Amsterdam - +31 (0)6 410 23 678 - info@mariannehendriks.com - www.mariannehendriks.com - @mariannehendriksart

The term "limited edition" has various meanings depending upon the artist, publisher, distributor and seller (or reseller). Saatchi Art uses the term "limited edition prints" to denote two dimensional art prints available through a pre-publication license agreement between the artist and Saatchi Art and sold pursuant to an exclusive prints publication arrangement.
This exclusive arrangement with the artist establishes a total maximum number of prints based on a single original high resolution digital image of a specific work of art created by the artist for limited and exclusive reproduction based on different paper type and/or dimension of the print. Certain information about the limited edition print and sale will be provided to buyers in a Certificate of Authenticity which is included with the purchase of each limited edition print through Limited by Saatchi Art. Saatchi Art is selling "limited edition prints" in compliance with the standards of disclosure established by California law regulating the sale of limited edition art prints. The image for any limited edition print may, in certain circumstances, be licensed by the artist for reproduction on other consumer products, such as phone cases, apparel and other home décor accents (but excluding two dimensional art prints).
California law provides for disclosure in writing of information concerning certain fine prints, photographs, and sculptures prior to effecting a sale of them. This law requires disclosure of such matters as the identity of the artist, the artist’s signature, the medium, whether the multiple is a reproduction, the time when the multiple was produced, use of the plate which produced the multiple, and the number of multiples in a "limited edition." If a prospective purchaser so requests, the information shall be transmitted to him or her prior to payment, or the placing of an order for a multiple. If payment is made by a purchaser prior to delivery of the multiple, this information will be supplied at the time of or prior to delivery, in which case the purchaser is entitled to a refund if, for reasons related to the matters contained in such information, he or she returns the multiple in the condition in which it was received, within 30 days of receiving it. In addition, if after payment and delivery, it is ascertained that the information provided is incorrect, the purchaser may be entitled to certain remedies, including a refund upon return of the multiple in the condition in which it was received.
Buyers of limited edition prints are entitled to a Certificate of Authenticity upon request prior to placing a limited edition print order online, or at the time of or prior to delivery of the limited edition print. Every limited edition print sold through Limited by Saatchi Art comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which includes a certification that the "information and statements contained therein are true and correct."
Saatchi Art is the exclusive distributor of limited edition art prints available for sale on Limited by Saatchi Art. In certain circumstances, the artist of a work available as a limited edition art print on Limited by Saatchi Art may license the image of the subject work for reproduction related to the sale of other consumer products, such as phone cases, apparel and other home décor accents (but excluding two dimensional art prints). The manner and consumer goods on which the image is reproduced are at the discretion of the artist, but the artist is precluded from permitting the subject work to be made available for reproduction on two dimensional art prints other than limited edition prints available for purchase on Limited by Saatchi Art.
A limited edition print that recites the number 2/25 means that the buyer is purchasing the second published print in a maximum print edition of 25 total prints (plus any proofs) of a specified size and dimension based upon a high resolution digital image of the artist’s original work of art. The Certificate of Authenticity tells the buyer if more than one edition has been published from the original image. For example, a print numbered 2/25 in a limited edition of 25 could be sold measuring 12" x 24" and another print numbered 2/15 in a limited edition of 15 could be sold measuring 24" x 36". The Certificate of Authenticity in that example would show that the total number is 40 prints (plus any proofs).
