About The Artwork

Being an Indian artist, I felt like I can capture the cultural beauty and the struggle of rural India at the same time. The painting describes the efforts of women living in rural areas in India, especially areas like Rajasthan where there is a scarcity of water. The women have to walk a long road to get water for their households and I tried my best to capture that on this canvas using acrylic paints. I hope that while looking at this painting, the viewers feel that a basic commodity like clean water can be a luxury for some people, and thus we need to appreciate the life we have. The inspiration for this painting comes from the large collection of artworks available online. The painting does not come with hanging hardware but can be easily hung on the walls either with tape or wall hooks. The painting is done with high-quality acrylic colors and varnish has been applied to preserve the colors for a longer time.

I am a Virologist by profession and an artist by choice. As a woman in science, I look at the world microscopically to gauge the minute details. On the other hand, my paintings tend to tell multiple stories at a macro scale in vibrant colors. I was born in India and got exposed to the vivid colors of the multicultural society since I was a kid. I moved to Italy for my Ph.D. in Virology, where I experienced a totally different landscape and culture which further gave me the motivation to paint in an exquisite manner. Once I finished my Ph.D., I moved to the United States where I am currently a postdoctoral scientist and working on cancer-causing viruses. Having lived on 3 different continents has helped me widen my perspective and has allowed me to paint in different styles, mannerisms, and colors.
