Dickman Mill Park is inspired by an aerial shot over Tacoma, off Puget Sound, Washington on Ruston Way. The leftover pilings once supported a massive platform for both raw and finished lumber being processed by the Dickman Mill Head Saw. It was the last of many lumber operations skirting old town Tacoma on Commencement Bay. Boat in, boat out, massive logs were cut and stored before transport to market. I love the clear, translucent water on sand, and it’s lack of features other than minute detritis that create the blanket for this mathematic pattern of the pilings. I don’t think there’s a better angle to see the beauty of these pilings than overhead. Now that the city has commemorated Dickman Mill Park with outdoor sculptures and park amenities, even though the offshore view is picturesque, I’ll always think of it the way I see it in this piece. I’m thankful that granted me permission to paint it. The deep 1-1/2" museum mount edges of Dickman Mill Park are painted as 3D extensions of the main image. Your piece arrives prewired, ready to hang. Copyright Notice eather W. Ernst holds exclusive rights over her work and reproductions issued by her or by an authorized representative.
