ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Painted whilst listening to Dissolved Girl, by Massive Attack. This painting is part of my 21gms series, which refers to a scientific study published in 1907 by American physician Duncan MacDougall, who hypothesized that souls have weight, and attempted to measure the weight lost by a human body at the time of death. The experiment nwas flawed and widely rejected by the scientific community, however it popularized the idea that the soul has weight, specifically 21 grams. The drawings I make when I’m in this frame of mind, delve into what it means to be human in our increasingly technological society.
