ABOUT THE ARTWORK
When one looks at Yosemite Falls for a very long time it is obvious that the light generated from the incidence of falling water and sunlight is full of beauty. I was inspired when I made this painting to interpret the overwhelming contrasts created by the waterfall i. e. hard and soft, light and dark, tall and short, and violet and yellow.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
