About The Artwork

Xu Bin's original oil painting titled "Do Re Mi Fa Sol 6" captures the essence of music and its power to transcend reality. The painting depicts a young female musician sitting on a field, playing the cello with her head lowered and her attention fully focused on the music. The gentle sway of her skirt with the wind and the melodious notes that float into the distance create a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The musician's immersion in her playing is so complete that she forgets everything around her, including her own existence. This illustrates the transformative power of art, which allows individuals to disconnect from their worries and immerse themselves in the joy of expression and creation. Xu Bin's painting serves as a reminder of the importance of art in providing an escape from the stresses of daily life. The connection between art and the real world is also highlighted in this painting. The music that the musician plays has the power to make bright flowers grow in the field, symbolizing the transformative nature of creativity. This aspect of the painting represents the life force of human creativity and the potential it has to change the world around us for the better. The notes played on the cello can be interpreted as human inspiration and creativity, which, when realized, can lead to beautiful and sustainable creations or short-lived and perishable ideas. The painting's backdrop is a white cloud that slowly rises, perhaps representing the musician's ascent to a higher level of performance. Her spirit and thoughts are sublimated along with the music, indicating the spiritual level of art. This interpretation highlights the potential for art to provide individuals with a higher level of sensory and spiritual pleasure in art creation and appreciation. It also emphasizes the artist's admiration for the transformative power of art and its ability to elevate individuals to new levels of existence.

I was born in 1969 in Guang'an, Sichuan, China. I graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Southwest Normal University and became a freelance artist afterwards. My early works were mainly oil paintings, influenced by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists such as Monet and Seurat. Through continuous learning and creative practice, I gradually integrated the artistic essence of Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Chagall and other artists, and combined with my own Chinese cultural background to develop my own mature artistic style.
