This kind of painting starts out with just paint put on at random, out of which the image emerges. Being fond of horses they seem to appear spontaneously in my paintings. Measurements given are with frame.

I was born in 1953 in Indonesia, when my parents lived there working for Shell.
In 1958 we moved back to The Netherlands.
After highschool I went to the Artcollege in Rotterdam in the early 70s.
As long as I can remember I have felt the need to create things; at first drawing and sculpting in clay, later on also painting and sculpting in bronze and stone.
The joy of creating, handling materials, and a deep longing for beauty are my motivation.
Actually all I want to do is “to make beautiful things”…..I feel the world needs a lot of beauty to stay in balance.
Animals are a favourite subject, especially horses and dogs.
But I also paint dreamlike fantasy landscapes, as well as still lifes.
Besides free work I also take commissions.
When other people also enjoy my work it is very rewarding and fills me with gratitude.
