I started this work at home and continued when we with my family went on a journey. During our trip I was forced to paint early in the morning, whose botanical illustration takes a lot of time and daylight. Wherever we are, every morning I devoted 2-3 hours to this work, I painted in cafes, in host...

About the Artist

Albina Litvinova

Poland

I’m an artist, I live and work in Kiev. I lead an active life and involved in many art events, I constantly take part in local and international exhibitions (during last three years there was 30+), also I'm engaged in art management - organizing exhibitions, working as a curator in an art residence and art projects.
In addition to art education, I also have a master's degree in cultural studies. And of course I work a lot, every day I devote time to my art. Such a balance between social activity and solitary work in the workshop gives me inspiring, on the one hand, I constantly feel connected with other people, and on the other, I can embody my inspiration, comprehend ideas and give them embodiment in the form of artistic expression.
I prefer traditional mediums - oils and watercolors, less often I use others.
Often I gives precedence to series of works, so I can dive deeply into the topic, research and consider it. A series of paintings has a stronger impact and involvement than one painting, because it is a powerful salvo about some statement. Here you can get acquainted with some of my series - for example, city landscapes - dedicated to my city Kiev - “City code”. Also a series of still-lives with a blue bowl - one obligatory subject - the blue bowl itself and various contents - I was interested in exploring the play of light and color when I’ve got a limited variety. And the series, which may still be replenished - "living things" - is my peering into familiar, ordinary things, an attempt to comprehend their meaning, history and deep meaning, taken out of the context of everyday life.
I’m happy when I able to convey the taste, brightness and color of life, help to see happiness in everyday things right here and now. I'm often told that my paintings evoke vivid memories of happy moments from the past. This is also great, because we can regain the experience of happy minuetes as soon as we want. I'm glad that my paintings help with this.
It is an extraordinary feeling of satisfaction when the new owners of my paintings find a source of joy in them. This creates an invisible dialogue between us, a common language that is understandable for the artist and the punters. Now much of my works lives in different countries in private collections.
