Mixed media on wood El verano invencible Nos hacemos mayores, o eso parece. Crecemos y dejamos cada vez más atrás nuestra infancia. Miramos a los niños disfrutando alegres del estío. Podemos reconocernos en ellos. Pero no podemos evitar mirarlos con nostalgia, porque sabemos que ya no podremos vivir de esa forma. Pero la melancolía está en los que miran no en los que juegan. La infancia y sobre todo los veranos de la infancia se han convertido para nosotros, los adultos, en paraísos perdidos. A pesar de ello, su brillo nos acompaña, incluso aunque apenas podamos recordar esos años.. Los cuadros de la serie “El verano invencible”nos presentan niños absortos en sus actividades veraniegas. Se nos muestran naturales y llenos de vitalidad. Sin embargo algo yubyace. Y es que a pesar del evidente realismo las imágenes se alejan de lo fotográfico. Lo más construido convive con el dibujo, el collage y la mancha abstracta. Los recursos pictóricos conforman una especie de realismo subjetivo que golpea la memoria poética. “El verano invencible” busca la empatía del espectador, le invita a buscar en su experiencia vital. Pero como he señalado antes, la mirada adulta no es ni objetiva ni ingenua y carga a unos simples juegos infantiles de su comprensión existencial. Sin embargo, a pesar de la posible melancolía, es inevitable dejarse llevar y ser por un breve instante uno de esos niños. Entonces el verano invisible de nuestra infancia demuestra ser, aunque sea por un momento, verdaderamente invencible. Pilar López Báez

Pilar López Báez was born in Madrid in September 1981. She studied Art History and Fine Arts, graduating in both degrees by the Complutense University in Madrid and the Felipe II University in Aranjuez, respectively. She completed her education with a course of graphic design at the Cice Advanced Studies Center in Madrid. She has received several grands in Spanish geography and has been invited to participate in other European scholarships. She has participated in galleries all around Spain and abroad, she made several solo exhibitions in galleries such as Espacio 36 in Zamora, or Octógono in Avilés, both in Spain. She has been invited to exhibit in institutional halls and art academies. Her artistic work has been awarded several times in Spanish competitions, such as “Camarote Madrid” in Leon. She has been finalist in many national e international competitions. Her work can be found in private collections in Spain, Italy and United States. Currently, she lives and works in Aranjuez, combining her work as a painter with her work as a child illustrator.
