End of the Ski Day in Val Veny, Courmayeur Print

This picture is based on a couple of my photographs from a past trip to Courmayeur. They were taken at the end of the day, when my family and myself were coming down the mountain, on the side of Val Veny, which is much quieter than the main Plan Chécrouit side. We were rushing to get to the funicular to go down into Courmayeur. But I was tempted to go into the restaurant (Pré-de-Pascal) to get a hot chocolate and a cake beforehand. The idea is of a glorious day coming to an end, and the vastness and quietness of the mountain. You can view the Monte Bianco (or Mont Blanc) in the background. I've did this piece on a La Carte Pastel paper of Sennelier, in three panels, so I could get the whole landscape. I've used soft pastels and pastel pencils, from Unison Colour, Sennelier, Jackson's Art Supplies pastels and Rembrandts Pastels. Also Caran d'Ache and Faber Castell's pastel pencils.
