ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is almost like a story about the nordic nature during the early springtime. When the ice are melting and the nature is slowly transforming into the fase of a new beginning. I hope to inspire the beholder to feel and be humble too the power and the beauty of the nature.

My name is Christina Jensen but I am KIcki to my friends. I was born in Stockholm, Sweden, where I have been working with art since the end of the eighties. My preferences in my art which consists mainly of painting and graphics is the abstract form. It gives me freedom to experiment with shape and colour. Three years ago I took a giant step: I moved away from cool Scandinavia and settled in wonderful Andalusia, Spain. It is a place that gives me new inspiration, and I have had various exhibitions here. People often ask me how I start and what inspires me. Everything does. I start by playing with paint all over a canvas, see how forms appear, and expand and define them. I have chosen oils deliberately; they dry slowly and give me an opportunity to work with texture as well as form. Usually I put on paint in several layers - an important method for me. It is a long process, and I often have several paintings on my easels at the same time. The aim is to create a composition, and I actually often get inspired by music I listen to. This is why so much of my work has titles referring to music. What is “in” my paintings is up to the beholder. Different people see different things, and that in itself is a new inspiration for me.
