Biography
Alberto Luis Ybarra was born in Corrientes, Argentina, on November 17, 1965. His artistic journey began as a self-taught painter, experimenting first with temperas and fabric paints before discovering the depth of oil painting.
Education and Formative Years
Though he initially spent two years studying Architecture, he soon realized his true calling lay elsewhere. At age 25, he began formal training at the Taller de Artes Visuales (UNNE) and later enrolled in the Instituto Josefina Contte.
Career Milestones
His career gained momentum around the age of 26 when, following an informal connection at a local venue (Video West), he was invited to hold his first solo exhibition at the Legislature of Corrientes (Salón de los Pasos Perdidos). Since then, he has been a consistent participant in the "Expresarte" collective exhibitions.
Exhibitions and Art Fairs
Ybarra has built a significant presence in the Argentine art scene through numerous solo and group shows:
ArteBA: Participated in 2008 (Barrio Joven) and again in 2017 with a series of miniatures.
ArteCo: Constant participation in both solo and collective formats from 2019 to 2024.
Museums & Galleries: * Solo exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts of Corrientes.
Group exhibition at Galería Pasto (Buenos Aires) alongside works by Mildred Burton.
Featured in a collective exhibition at El Moderno (Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires), presenting an interpretation of "Peralta Ramos' Supper" through six portraits.
Solo exhibitions at Salón Adolfo Mors, Asociación Correntina de Cultura Inglesa, and Galería Jacarandá (Goya).
Digital Art: Showcased four digital works at the University Extension in Corrientes (2016).
Awards and Recognition
Throughout his career, Ybarra has received four major awards in Regional Salons:
Two First Prizes in Painting.
One First Prize in Drawing.
One Second Prize in Painting.
In addition to his creative work, he has also shared his expertise as a jury member for various art competitions.
