This portrait depicts the scene towards the end of the novel by Alexander Pushkin when Eugene Onegin has returned from a grand ball, having encountered Tatiana again after several years. As a young girl, Tatiana had poured her heart out to him but he was too carefree and flippant to return her attention. Now she has flourished into an elegant & charming young lady but it is too late for anything because she is engaged to a General. This is the moment, when in the privacy of his room, the realization starts to trickle from his head to his heart. He tries to offset the heaviness in his heart by trivially filing his nails. In vain.

Before anything I am a dancer. As an art form ballet requires the most physical energy and intensity so this was the natural way for me. Technique has never been very interesting for me except as a means to express and a structure to sublimate and destroy. Visual art is a logical progression and I’m very happy in it from the pleasure it gives but also because its given my dancing more nuances & textures.
