About The Artwork

Inspired by starling murmurations, the meditative qualities of nature’s spectacular displays are a reminder to calm the mind and move through this sphere with flow. Andrea uses the pointillism technique with watercolor dots to create the illusion of birds forming in the sky. This watercolor painting has a lot of detail and uses atmospheric perspective to show depth. Andrea Bijou is an American abstract artist known for her abstracted florals and landscapes. She has studied with master oil realist painters as a pupil in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, and Seattle. She currently works out of her Seattle studio in Washington state. Her work is inspired by the mysteries of nature and the psyche. Her artwork has been featured in Spirituality & Health magazine, Seattle Bride magazine, and Seattle Magazine.

Andrea Bijou studies the effect trauma has on the psyche. With a pause on abstracts, her artwork is a juxtaposition between blooming awareness and the unconscious. There is a dualistic quality dancing in her work; a coupling of opposites showcasing human darkness and healing. She uses her creative practice as a therapeutic outlet for early childhood trauma. Andrea also works as Clinical Mental Health Counselor and advocate for trauma survivors.
