ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A painting of fields, Trosley Kent, just after the corn has been cut. The North Downs are in the distance. I loved the ways the lines all point to the barn, but there are other marks left by the tractors. It feels like a summer's day. Summer is soon over and autumn is coming. The seasons come and go. Everything points to an eternal harvest. Nothing in life lasts. You were born naked and naked you will return to the dust from which we were made. Everything we have is affected by entropy. Everything breaks, falls apart and eventually goes back to the ground. We age and die. Jesus spoke about this eternal reality in his parables. A harvest is coming where we will be separated. Some to be gathered safe in the barn, others to face God's justice on their wickedness. Are we ready to face that great day of judgement? Today Jesus sends workers into his harvest field to gather people in.
