'Exclusive Act' Print

LIC is far West part of Queens borough of NYC. It's facing midtown Manhattan on other side of East River. Ful name is Long Island City. It used to be industrial area and loading dock for cargo ships. In post-Industrial era, buildings attracted artists to use high ceiling lofts as art studios for many decades. Recent gentrification turned low rises into skyscrapers and guys in working clothes are replaced by fashionable yuppies and trendy hipsters. There are still some authentic leftover, almost extinct, artists and craftsmen from back in the day....and one of them is truly yours, undersigned. Graffiti had large presence in 90s and early 2000s. Biggest complex of outdoor graffiti display was at the 'Crane St Studios' a.k.a. '5Points' where whole large industrial block of buildings was completely covered by aerosol art. My studio was located there from late 90s till buildings were demolished. New high rise modern apt buildings stand there now. Sometimes memories and feelings about that period of NY art history kicks in when I paint , as it happened in this work.... Painted on 1/2" gator board salvaged from NYC Marathon marketing and promo boards. 1/2" gator-board spacers installed in the back + hanging bracket, making all work to stand out from the wall 1". Ready to hang.
