ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is entitled Extension, referring to the extension of the horse's leg as it trots. The horse is performing Dressage, an Olympic sport where horse and rider perform various movements to showcase the athleticism of the horse. One of the movements performed is the extension and collection of the horse's natural gaits, walk, trot, and canter. Dressage is considered a classical art, similar to ballet. Because it's an elegant sport, ink wash complements it, reflecting the gracefulness and movement of the horse.

I’m an artist who is inspired by two things I love most, horses and nature. Horses have been in my life since childhood. I started riding when I was 8 years old, took lessons, rode with friends, and worked at a stable until university. Once I graduated and entered the work force, I only rode on occasion. In 2018 I adopted my first horse, an off the track Thoroughbred gelding who makes me smile every day. Nature is what keeps me grounded. Many of my landscape paintings are inspired by my travels. I’ve been blessed with the chance to visit 53 counties. Out of all of those amazing places England and Scotland are where I feel most at home. I’ve visited many times, and each visit is wonderful. The land there speaks to me in a way I haven’t found anywhere else.
