I was born in Pagsanjan, Laguna, Philippines. In a small town of cultured people who takes pride for their passion and love for arts. Known by my fellow school classmates, family members and close friends as someone who has a great passion and love for arts at the very young age. I had my very first painting contest experienced at the age of 14, which helped me decide to paint for life. Since then my understandings of arts mature as well as my knowledge and appreciation to creative arts whether modern or contemporary. As of today, I have been working predominantly in the medium of oil, acrylic and watercolor. I studied Fine Arts and has a major in advertising at the Far Eastern University in Manila from 1989 to 1992. I had also worked as Graphic Designer in various Ad Agency internationally whereas my creativity was enhanced even more. I am now living and economically based in Monterrey, Mexico. Artistic Statement I found freedom of expression through my artwork. Painting makes me feel free and it's all about my soul searching for the deeper meaning of creativity through arts. My artworks are representations of (seemingly) concrete ages and situations as well as depictions and ideas that can only be realized in painting. I believed that by applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies, creates arts with daily, recognizable elements, an unprecedented situation in which the viewer is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position. By creating situations and breaking the passivity of the spectator, I wanted the viewer to become part of my art. Personal Point of View about Artist I have great respect and admiration for all artists whose approach are made through strict rules which can be perceived as liberating constraints and with romantic values such as ‘inspiration’, ‘genius’ and ‘authenticity’. By applying a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way. Art is entertainment, “To be able to touch the work, as well as to interact with the work is important.”
