ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I found this bush of gigantic decorative Milk Thistle plant while travelling around West Coast. It was the end of summer, so the plant was wilting but its subdued colors and curvy leaves were so beautiful, that I just had to sketch it really fast. I took a lot of reference photos and, as soon as I got home, I started painting it. The title of the painting, Farewell to Summer, just came to my mind while I was working on it.
