About The Artwork
The painting is is inspired by a photograph of a young girl turning into a young woman. Her innocence and curiosity for adulthood inspiring both the fashion industry and general consumerism culture to manufacture more. When I was of similar age I was still eating ice cream and did not worry about weight gain or the next fashion which is sadly preoccupying and quickly taking the childhood of many too soon. Lastly, it also cracks me up how the young women - who can't even yet afford designer clothes - are deemed the only people able to model or sell these clothes to the middle aged women that can actually afford it.
