Feeding Dreams Print

This was a very complex spray painting art piece Colby spent many hours on. The layering of colors with multiple large fish imprints while elaborating each fishes own unique colors with movements on the dark black background and having each main fish chase metallic baitfish wasn't easy. Especially for detailed imprints with the minnows due to how fragile each dead minnow was to handle. The three main fish imprints were white bass Colby harvested during an ice fishing trip. Those fish were extremely hard to imprint to canvas because of the awkward boney body features. That awkwardness turned into its own art exploration of distinctive beauty forms. It was like an imaginative dream unraveling on canvas one layer at a time with no repercussions. The movement streaks surrounding each imprinted fish were originally miss placed imprints that then were smeared by Colby's hands to recreate displacement of colors and fish maneuvers. Overlapping layers and imprints was done to give a perspective of a free-for-all movement when fish feed strongly. The end goal for this artwork was to create a realistic yet imaginative conversation piece for all to enjoy.
