Fem Libido Print

This image was derived from charcoal sketches of a woman meditating while sitting in a sunlit room early in the morning. The smile on her face was one of pure ecstasy. As I worked on the sketches the image of an electrical storm in the form of human emotion and sexual charge struck me like lightening bolt. It was easy from there; I just had to paint what I saw in my mind's eye. I want the viewers to feel a visceral response to the upon realization of what it contains: the immense power of the female sexual charge. I chose acrylic because it is the fastest, most vibrant medium to work in. I also wanted to achieve the effect of a violent lightening event at first glance with a dawning awareness of the full content of the image. I did this by creating a dark background, de-emphasizing the figure in cool receding colors, and emphasizing the hot electrical movement in warm bright colors. It is an unusual composition. Note: This is the first image in a series of 10 of human emotional experience pieces.
